About Uley Under 5s Playgroup

"Staff have a caring attitude and build good relationships with the children" Ofsted, 2016

“A stimulating and welcoming environment . . . Children are happy, relaxed and confident” Ofsted, 2014

Uley Under 5s Playgroup celebrated its 50th year anniversary in 2015. It will continue to be a valuable resource for many more years with the support of local families. Children aged 2 to 4 years are welcome to join our friendly, parent-run playgroup, where the emphasis is on the children learning through play. We are also accepting 2 year olds under the Achieving Two Year olds scheme.

The playgroup belongs to the Dursley branch of the Gloucestershire Playgroup and Toddlers Association (PATA). We are inspected by OFSTED and are eligible to accept vouchers/authority funding for 3 and 4 year olds including the 30 hours funding. We were last inspected by OFSTED in November 2016 and were awarded a GOOD rating in all areas.

The playgroup, although a registered charity, is owned by the parents of children who attend the group. While the day-to-day running of the sessions is the responsibility of the staff, the committee conducts the general management of the playgroup. Given that the playgroup is dependant upon the voluntary support of parents, we hope that all parents will get involved in some way. All contributions of help, large or small, are gratefully received. Committee meetings are held every month and you are welcome to join us to find out what it’s all about. Look out for notices or ask a committee member for more information. A committee and officers are elected at the Annual General Meeting each September.

Moving on from the Playgroup

At Uley Under 5s Playgroup we are lucky enough to be part of a community that has an excellent village school. Our staff work in close partnership with the Early Years Team at Uley Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School (Uley CEVC)to facilitate a happy and stress-free transition for our preschool children. The Playgroup enjoys attending events at the school and vice-versa; so the teachers, environment, and other children are a familiar and welcome sight to our 'rising fives'! You can find out more about Uley CEVC Primary School here.
